Robert B. Carter
EVP and CIO, FedEx Corporation
Rob Carter is responsible for the corporation’s key applications and technology infrastructure. FedEx applications, advanced networks and data centers provide around-the-clock and around-the-globe support for the information intensive transportation, logistics and business related product offerings of FedEx Corporation. Rob is also responsible for Customer Service, Billing and Revenue Operations. FedEx call centers are one of the premier customer service organizations in the world and provide instant access to the great people and technology that support FedEx customers worldwide. He joined FedEx in 1993 and has nearly 30 years of systems development and implementation experience utilizing a wide variety of technologies. Rob earned his bachelor's degree in Computer and Information Sciences from the University of Florida and his MBA from the University of South Florida. He serves as a member of the Saks, Inc. Board of Directors, First Horizon National Corporation Board of Directors, and the University of Florida Foundation Board of Trustees.
Judith Estrin
Founder and CEO, Packet Design, LLC
Judith Estrin is an extremely accomplished founder and executive of high technology start-ups. WPGVP has invested in the four companies she co-founded and was a lead investor of three of them. She currently is CEO of JLABS, LLC, and the author of Closing the Innovation Gap (McGraw Hill, Sept. 2008). Prior to co-founding Packet Design, in May 2000, Judith was Chief Technology Officer for Cisco Systems. Beginning in 1981, Judith co-founded three other successful technology companies: Bridge Communications, Network Computing Devices, and Precept Software. In 1998, Cisco Systems acquired Precept, and she became Cisco’s Chief Technology Officer and served in that capacity for three years until April 2000. Judith has been named three times to Fortune Magazine's list of the 50 most powerful women in American business. She serves on the Boards of Directors of The Walt Disney Company and FedEx Corporation as well as two private companies – Packet Design, Inc. and Arch Rock. She also serves on the advisory councils of Stanford's School of Engineering and Stanford's Bio-X initiative. She holds a B.S. degree in math and computer science from UCLA and an M.S. in electrical engineering from Stanford University.
Daniel C. Kurtzer
Adjunct Professor, Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University; Former U.S. Ambassador to Israel
Ambassador Kurtzer, a Career-Minister in the Senior Foreign Service until his retirement in December 2005, has been intimately involved in Middle East peace negotiations and the formulation of U.S. policy in the Middle East for almost 30 years. His highly distinguished background includes serving as U.S. Ambassador to Egypt, as U.S. Ambassador to Israel, as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, and as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Intelligence and Research. During his diplomatic career, Ambassador Kurtzer received several of the U.S. Government's most prestigious awards, including the President's Distinguished Service Award, the Department of State Distinguished Service Award, the National Intelligence Community's Award for Achievement, the Director General of the Foreign Service Award for Political Reporting and numerous Superior Honor Awards. Ambassador Kurtzer currently holds the S. Daniel Abraham Chair in Middle East Policy Studies at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. Ambassador Kurtzer holds a BA degree from Yeshiva University in New York and a PhD from Columbia University.
Regis McKenna
Regis McKenna founded Regis McKenna, Inc., a high tech marketing firm, over 35 years ago. Companies that Regis and his firm assisted in their formative years included America Online, Apple Computer, Electronic Arts, Genentech, Intel, National Semiconductor, Silicon Graphics, and 3Com Corporation. Retired from active consulting since 2000, Regis is a seed-investor in high tech ventures, the author of five books on technology marketing and an active lecturer. In addition to recently serving on the International Advisory Board of Toyota Motor Company, Regis is a founding member of the Santa Clara University Center for Science, Technology & Society and a trustee of Santa Clara University. He serves on numerous Boards of Directors including Nanosys and Golden Gate Software. Regis has been honored by the San Jose Mercury News as one of the 100 people who made Silicon Valley what it is today.
Sam Nunn
Co-Chairman and CEO, Nuclear Threat Initiative
Sam Nunn is Co-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nuclear Threat Initiative, a charitable organization working to reduce the global threats from nuclear, biological and chemical weapons. He served as a United States Senator from Georgia for 24 years (1972-1996), having first entered politics as a Member of the Georgia House of Representatives, and is retired from the law firm King & Spalding. In addition to his work with NTI, Senator Nunn has continued his service in the public policy arena as a distinguished professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at Georgia Tech and as chairman of the board of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, DC. Senator Nunn has also served in the U.S. Coast Guard both in active duty and in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. He attended Georgia Tech, Emory University and Emory Law School, where he graduated with honors.
Sanford R. Robertson

Sanford Robertson pioneered the creation of the West Coast technology banking industry in the late 1960s, and has remained one of the industry's most renowned participants. Sanford is a principal with Francisco Partners, a $2.5 billion technology buyout fund. Prior to founding Francisco Partners, Sanford was the founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Robertson, Stephens & Company, a leading technology investment bank which he formed in 1978 and sold to BankAmerica in 1998. Sanford was also the founder of Robertson, Coleman, Siebel & Weisel, later renamed Montgomery Securities, another prominent technology investment bank. Sanford has had significant financing involvement in over 500 growth technology companies, including 3Com Corporation, America Online Inc., Applied Materials, Inc., Ascend Communications Inc., Dell Computer Corporation, Siebel Systems, Inc., and Sun Microsystems. Sanford serves on the Board of Directors of Dolby Laboratories, Pain Therapeutics, and Salesforce.com. He holds BBA and MBA degrees from the University of Michigan.
Richard M. Rosenberg
Chairman and CEO, BankAmerica Corporation (Retired)
Richard Rosenberg is the retired chairman and CEO of Bank of America. Under Richard’s leadership, Bank of America became the second largest bank in the United States and doubled both assets and net income. He was appointed Chairman and CEO in 1990 and served until 1996. Prior to joining Bank of America in 1987, Richard worked at Wells Fargo Bank for 22 years, his last years serving as Vice-Chairman and Director. Richard is a retired commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve, a member of the California Bar Association, a trustee of the California Institute of Technology, a past President of The Bankers Roundtable, the Bank Marketing Association, the Federal Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve System and a past Chairman of MasterCard International. He is a member of the boards of directors of the Buck Institute for Age Research, Health Care Property, Inc., the San Francisco Symphony, the Naval War College Foundation and chairman of the University of California San Francisco Foundation and the Executive Council of the University of California Medical Center. He has served as the Chairman of the Board for ABX Air, and as a director of Airborne Express Corporation, SBC Communications, UCSF-Stanford Health Care, Chronicle Publishing Company, Northrup Grumman Corporation, Pacific Life Insurance Company, Premier Pacific Vineyards and Exigen Group. Richard holds a BS degree from Suffolk University, and MBA and JD degrees from San Francisco’s Golden Gate University.
John M. Thompson
Chairman of the Board, TD Bank Financial Group
John Thompson is Chairman of the Board of TD Bank Financial Group. He is also the recently retired Vice Chairman of the IBM Board of Directors, where he was responsible for IBM's business strategy and oversight of the company's worldwide technology and manufacturing direction. John worked at IBM from 1966 to 2004. From 1995 until 2002, he was the Group Executive responsible for IBM's worldwide software business and from 1993 to 1995, ran IBM's worldwide server business. From 1991 to 1993, he was IBM's Corporate Vice President of Marketing, charged with developing IBM's strategy for entering the services business. Prior to this, John held a variety of roles at IBM, including CEO of IBM Canada, Ltd. John is a Director of Thomson Reuters Corporation and of Philips Electronics NV, a Trustee of the Hospital for Sick Children and Chancellor of the University of Western Ontario. He holds a degree in Engineering Science and has completed executive programs at The University of Western Ontario and the Kellogg Graduate School of Business at Northwestern University.
